Siberian tiger, Amur tiger that can be seen in ZOO Poland Zamosc (latin: Panthera tigris altaica) - predatory mammal of the cat family, the largest of the tiger subspecies. Comparable size reaches only Bengal tiger (P. t tigris). A similar size of the Caspian tiger (P. t virgata) is now recognized as a species extinct. Siberian tiger is a subspecies of low genetic variability
Range
100 years ago appeared in a large area of the Huang He River in the south to Kamchatka in the north and west of Lake Baikal to the Sea of Japan in the east.
The population - estimated at up to 390 individuals, of whom about 350 inhabited coastal state and Khabarovsk Krai in the eastern part of Russia, the rest - is the Russian-Chinese border, in the lower reaches of the Amur. Individuals with this second population is increasingly entering into areas of northern China and North Korea.
Living in the mountains, dense forests and mixed conifer near rivers and streams.
